How the Investigation Works

A responsible investigation considers the drainage evidence alongside possible entry through wall cavities, floors, roofs, service ducts, neighbouring properties and external gaps. Where a drainage defect is found, the repair should be targeted at the proven route rather than based on assumption.

This service is appropriate when there is a reasonable possibility that drainage defects are contributing to rat access, especially where activity is repeated or concentrated near toilets, floors, kitchens or drainage routes.

The cheapest repair is not always the best repair, but equally the most extensive option is not automatically necessary.

Standing water does not automatically mean collapse. The pipe gradient, local deformation, silt and access position all need considering.

Drainage systems often cross boundaries or connect with shared pipework. Ownership and responsibility may need checking before repairs are arranged.
